Introduction

The fiction ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ released on 22nd February 2015 at Nagpur is the fruit of my ‘sadhana’ and ‘tapasya’ during the last 3 decades and more of my ‘pilgrimage of faith’ that had begun on 8th July 1982 from the debris of the Indian Air Force DC-3 aircraft which had crash-landed in Dharmapuri lake in Salem district of Tamil Nadu on that day. I was a serving IAF officer at that time and was a crew member of that DC-3 aircraft. I was born and brought up in a conservative Syro-Malabar Catholic family background in central Kerala. But I was not a religious person during the years of my Air Force life. I had left the Catholic Church many years ago. I had also felt that Christianity is a western religion irrelevant to me and India.
The encounter with death at a least expected moment in the peak of my worldly pursuits was the ‘turning point’ in my life and worldview. I realized that my ‘second life’ is a free gift of love by an ever compassionate and eternally loving God for a specific purpose. This specific purpose of my ‘second life’ was shown to me as ‘founding a consecrated society for interreligious dialogue and world peace’. It took many years for me to understand, accept and commit myself to this specific purpose of my ‘second life’. It was also shown to me that the ‘consecrated society for interreligious dialogue and world peace’ should be named ‘Disciples of Christ for Peace’.
My life today is totally dedicated to God in Christ through the Catholic Church for a culture of peace in the present conflict-ridden peaceless world. In my mission I am called to follow the path of forgiving, enduring and self-sacrificing love taught and demonstrated to the world by Sadguru Jesus Christ without religious conversion and cultural alienation.
I have been striving to be a true disciple of  Sadguru Jesus Christ, my Divine Master. With the help of Most Rev. Samineni Arulappa of Hyderabad, the late Archbishop of Hyderabad, I had founded the ‘Disciples of Christ for Peace’ (DCP) in 1998 as a ‘consecrated society’ for a culture of love, unity and peace on earth. DCP was registered as an ‘ecumenical communion of love’ in Kerala on 1st June 2009 with a global coverage with our Dharma Bharathi Ashram at Mulanthuruthy near Kochi in Kerala as its permanent ‘Registered Office’.

1. New Constitution & 3-pronged spirituality for DCP

DCP now functions under the patronage of the Archbishop of Nagpur according to a new Constitution issued under his imprimatur on Pentecost 2012. According to this new Constitution, DCP will be a ‘scoio-spiritual communion of love’ and a ‘new kind of consecrated society’ consisting of priests, religious and lay leaders of the Catholic Church for the specific task of promoting interreligious dialogue and cooperative action for a culture of peace in India and the world (Ref. Article-II of the Constitution of DCP).
DCP functions from the newly started Navasrushti Ashram in Shantivanam near Nagpur. This Ashram was started on 3rd July 2014, the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle of Lord Jesus Christ who brought the ‘Way’ of Christ to India in 52 AD. The Navasrushti Ashram accepted St. Joseph Vaz, ‘the St. Paul of India & Apostle of Sri lanka’ as its ‘Patron Saint’ on 8th March 2015. The three-pronged mission spirituality of St. Joseph Vaz consisting of ‘reconciliation, regeneration and renunciation’ was also accepted as the mission spirituality for DCP and Navasrushti Ashram from that day.

2. The Vision & Mission of DCP

I and the members of DCP are not called to promote any religion, caste, class or creed. We are called to see the whole humankind as one large family bound with a common destiny in which nations and religions are but smaller families. We are also called to understand and accept the Universe as an interdependent organic whole in the form of a network of relationships sustained by Divine Love which is the source of creation and ground of existence.
In our mission, I and the members of DCP are to be committed to follow the path of forgiving, enduring and self-sacrificing love,  the ‘Way’ of eternal life taught and demonstrated to the world by Sadguru Jesus Christ, which I have termed as ‘Sahana Yoga’.  I have been striving to be a true disciple of my Divine Master whom I have accepted as my personal ‘Lord of light and love’ (‘Ishta Deivom’). I and the members of DCP and Navasrushti Ashram are called promote a ‘unitive divine consciousness’ which is the consciousness of ‘All in God & God in All’, following the prayer and footsteps of our Divine Master Sadguru Jesus Christ who prayed to God: “Father, I pray that they may all be one. As you are in me and I am in you; that they may all be one in us” (Jn 17.21). We believe that this unitive divine consciousness is the deepest foundation of interreligious dialogue and world peace. I have outlined this unitive divine consciousness in Chapter-1 of  Part-II of  ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’.
I firmly believe that such a unitive divine consciousness as presented and promoted by Sadguru Jesus Christ alone can help humanity build a world of love, unity, peace and joy. I also believe that Mother India is called to be an instrument of God for world unity and global peace based on such a unitive divine consciousness. The primary call and mission of DCP is to be an instrument of God for promoting this unitive divine consciousness and to help awaken Mother India to her destined divine mission in the world family of nations.
In ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ I have presented in a story form my spiritual experiences and the vision and mission entrusted to me by the living Spirit of Christ, the ‘Lord of light and love’, for a spiritually awakened, morally regenerated, economically prosperous and politically strong Mother India and for a New Creation (‘Navasrushti’) of love, unity, peace and joy on earth.

3. ‘Tyagarchana Shanti Mission’

The ‘Tyagarchana Shanti Mission’  that is being promoted by DCP is an interreligious initiative for spiritual unity and regeneration of India, beginning with the Catholic Church. It was initiated on 23rd January 2015 at SFS School, Nagpur, by Most Rev. Abraham Viruthakulangara, Archbishop of Nagpur. He also inaugurated a pilot project of Tyagarchana Shanti Mission in the Nagpur Archdiocese on that day.
‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ will serve as a ‘Reference Manual’ for ‘Tyagarchana Shanti Mission’ as well as for an ‘Integral Revolution’ for a spiritually regenerated, morally awakened, economically prosperous and politically strong Mother India and a New Creation (‘Navasrushti’) of love, unity, peace and joy on earth.
I feel that the living Spirit of Christ has now miraculously completed the work of laying a strong foundation in, with and through me for the ‘consecrated society for interreligious dialogue and world peace’ that was shown to be the mission of my second life more than 3 decades ago. I have been able to do my work with the wisdom and power given to me by God through the living Spirit of Christ, my Lord of light and love. The Navasrushti Ashram, the fiction ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’, the Constitution of DCP issued under the imprimatur of the Archbishop of Nagpur, and the ‘Tyagarchana Shanti Mission’ being promoted by DCP will serve as the four ‘divine pillars’ of DCP and its mission hereafter.

4. New opportunities ahead of DCP

Air Chief Marshal (Dr.) N C Suri, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd), former Chief of the Air Staff, IAF, told me on 23rd March 2015 that had already read my book ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ three times! He has been a great promoter of interreligious dialogue and global peace ever since his retirement from the Indian Air Force more than 20 years ago. He wanted my book to reach the ‘best brains’ in the country. He himself had very kindly fixed up an appointment for me to meet Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, who has been an embodiment of interreligious dialogue and cooperation in India. I met Dr. Kalam on 25th March 2015 at his Delhi residence (10 - Rajaji Marg, New Delhi). I shared my vision and mission with him. I also presented a copy of my book ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ to him.
Other inspiring personalities whom I had met at Delhi and discussed and presented the book were Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar, Secretary, National Foundation for Communal Harmony under the Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. of India, and the 85-year old ‘Padmashri’ Rev. Fr. Thomas Kunnunkal S J, a well-known educationist and author. Fr. Thomas Kunnunkal is also a former Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, and the Founder – Chairman of the Open Schooling system in India. The President of India had conferred on him the ‘Padmashri’ award for his dedicated services to the nation in the field of education. He is by far the most inspiring living example for all Catholics involved in interreligious dialogue and cooperative action for a culture of peace in the present multi-religious context of India. My association with him goes back to more than 20 years.
I also had an opportunity to meet Dr. A K Singh, Deputy Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and to interact with the scientists and staff of ICAR on ‘Spirituality of Agriculture’ which is a theme dear to my heart. Real India is rural India. More than 70% of India’s 1270 million population live in villages and earn their livelihood from agriculture. Developing and promoting an effective  ‘spirituality of agriculture’ has been a very important task for me. Our Navasrushti Ashram is being transformed into a ‘laboratory’ for developing such an effective spirituality of agriculture with the help of ICAR.
The other two inspiring personalities I had met at Delhi and discussed the book were Sri. P V Rajgopal, the charismatic founder-leader of Ekta Parishad, and his wife Jill Carr Harris, a charismatic international  personality in her own right. Ekta Parishad is the largest people’s movement in India, and perhaps also in the whole world, today. It is also an interreligious movement committed to the land and livelihood rights of the poor millions in India and the world. It was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize last year. I have been associated with ‘Rajaji’ (Sri. PV Rajgopal) and Ekta Parishad since the last two decades. I was invited as a ‘special guest of honour’ for the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Ekta Parishad in their Prayog Ashram at Tilda near Raipur in January 2015.
I also feel that the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (IFCH) working under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) working under the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Govt. of India, and the Ekta Parishad with its ongoing struggle for the land and livelihood rights of the poor millions in India and all over the world, can provide great new opportunities for members of DCP to promote their mission of ‘Interreligious dialogue  and cooperative action for a culture of peace’ in India and the world.
Mr. Thomas John, a recently retired Senior Executive of Coal India Ltd, and a member of DCP under training, accompanied me in this my Delhi trip from 19 to 27 March 2015.  The various meetings and  interactions at Delhi were enriching experiences for us. Almost all who have read the book ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ have been speaking very highly about the vision and mission contained in it. The fiction is already turning out to be a  ‘book of divine destiny’.

5. Navasrushti Academy of Integral Leadership (NAIL)

To train a cadre of enlightened leaders and dedicated workers for the ‘Tyagarchana Shanti Mission’ and for an ‘Integral Revolution’ based on the fiction ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ will be the most important spiritual task ahead of DCP and the Navasrushti Ashram hereafter. ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ itself is the spiritual fruit of the first six months of my silence, solitude and prayer in this Ashram. The Publisher was shown to me in a dream. Hence, I cannot claim that this book is the fruit of my intellectual efforts. It surely is the work of the living Spirit of Christ who dwells in me and to whom I have consecrated my life and mission.
A vision or a mission will remain only a mirage unless there are dedicated and enlightened leaders committed to its realization. Hence, I and Mr. Thomas John are inspired to start a ‘Navasrushti Academy of Integral Leadership’ (NAIL) operating from our Navasrushti Ashram for training and developing a cadre of dedicated workers and enlightened leaders for realizing the vision and mission of the Tyagarchana Shanti Mission and of the Integral Revolution as outlined in ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’. This will be the most important task ahead of DCP and Navasrushti Ashram hereafter.
‘Navasrushti International Trust’ (NIT) founded and registered by me in 2005 will be the legal body responsible for the administration and management of NAIL which will function from Navasrushti Ashram with a ‘City Center’ functioning in Nagpur. There can also be ‘Extension Centers’ of NAIL at other parts of India. Mr. Thomas John has volunteered to serve as the ‘Trustee-in-Charge’ of NAIL for and on behalf of NIT. I have found him to be a simple and dedicated disciple of Lord Jesus Christ. Hence, I have nominated him as the ‘Trustee-in-Charge’ of NAIL for life with effect from 31st March 2015.

Education on the Fundamental Duties of Indian Citizens based on Article: 51-A of the Indian Constitution for ‘Enlightened Citizenship Development’ (ECD) & Education on principles and methodologies of enlightened leadership based on Chapter–X, Part–II of ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ for ‘Enlightened Leadership Development’ (ELD) will be the two core modules of NAIL. Promoting the ECD and ELD modules in Educational Institutions, Religious Communities, Social Service Societies,  Governmental/Non-Governmental Organizations, Industrial/Business Houses and Civil Society Groups all over India will be the on-going educational activity of NAIL.

NAIL will also serve as something like the ‘Lal Bahadur Shatri Academy of Administration’ that trains officers for the Civil Services. These officers who join various State Cadres and Central Services after their training constitute the ‘binding force’ that keeps India united as one nation. Similarly, the leaders trained by NAIL will together serve as an ‘integrating and motivating force’ for the Integral Revolution as outlined in ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ and for the Tyagarchana Shanti Mission which is to be seen as the first national project within this Integral Revolution.

After their ‘Foundational Course’ based on the ECD & ELD modules the leaders trained by NAIL can join and serve any one of the various Units under NIT according to their choice. They can also become resident members of one of the three existing Ashrams (Dharma Bharathi Ashram-Kochi, Navasrushti Ashram-Nagpur & Kabir Bharathi Ashram-Lucknow) under NIT and devote themselves to the mission of providing a strong socio-spiritual basis for the Integral Revolution of our vision and to the Tyagarchana Shanti Mission.

The more creative and daring among the leaders trained by NAIL can initiate organizations/ movements/ institutions of their own under NIT according to their tastes and talents. But all of them will work together under the moral and legal guidance and overall supervision of the National Board of Trustees of NIT to build a spiritually awakened, morally regenerated, economically prosperous and politically strong Mother India which is the most important common goal of the Integral Revolution and Tyagarchana Shanti Mission.

The Trustee-in-Charge of NAIL will be responsible to the National Board of Trustees of NIT to provide the necessary guidance and supervision to NAIL for fulfilling its goal.

Those interested leaders trained by NAIL can also promote other interreligious initiatives like communal harmony in collaboration with the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), agricultural development in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the land and livelihood rights of the poor in collaboration with Ekta Parishad.
Promoting the vision and mission of the Integral Revolution as outlined in ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ among the educated, economically self-supporting and peace-loving people of India, especially among the youthful political and religious leaders of the country, will be the most important shared divine task ahead of those enlightened leaders trained by NAIL. An Integral Revolution to build a spiritually awakened, morally regenerated, economically prosperous and politically strong Mother India and a ‘New Creation’ (Navasrushti) of love, unity, peace and joy on earth is the divine mission entrusted to them by history and destiny. The fiction ‘INTEGRAL REVOLUTION’ is a ‘book of divine destiny’ that will serve as the ‘manual’ for this much-needed Integral Revolution.

Dedication

The history of the world is the story of a handful of dedicated men and women of courage of conviction and strength of character who dared to venture out and persevere in their quest for God’s will and plan in their lives. ‘Disciples of Christ for Peace’ are called to be at their best when the world is at its worst.  India and the world today are faced with crises of unprecedented nature and magnitude. The present condition of the human family provides ample opportunities for us the members of DCP to commit ourselves to great and exciting tasks and projects for the glory of God and good of humanity.
Mr. Thomas John is accepted and dedicated to God in Christ for the divine task of supervising and guiding the work of NAIL on 3rd April 2015, Good Friday, at Panorama, Pachmarhi, M P, by me  in the presence of our common friend who brought us together in this divine mission, Rev. Fr. P J Joseph, SVD, the Director of Panorama, and Ms. Maggie Thomas John, the beloved wife of  Thomas John.
I pray specially for Thomas John and NAIL. May God shower His abundant blessings upon him and NAIL. May the power and wisdom as well as grace and truth of God revealed to humanity in, with and through His beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ rest upon Thomas John and work through NAIL and the leaders trained by NAIL.

Swami Sachidananda Bharathi, DCP
